Having received missionary approval with the Oklahoma District Missions Committee, I was able to begin the official application process with AG World Missions. To be honest, I did not know what to expect.
Many people had told me to be ready for a rather exhaustive application packet that could take several days to complete. Such a description left me more than a little apprehensive. However, when I finally received the packet in the mail a great excitement came over me.
I sat down in the living room of my house and began to fill out the packet. Almost immediately, I became lost in the application process. I felt such excitement. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that this was God’s next step for my life. I was born to be a missionary!
For several hours, I completed references, answered questions, wrote a biographical sketch, answered more questions, described myself, and answered more questions. By the time I was through, I was ready to move to Burundi! Anticipation was strong in my heart.
In looking back upon the application process, I have to say that it was a very enjoyable process. No part of it was overwhelming; God gave me great clarity of thought as I completed the application packet and I also experienced a great motivation to keep going full speed ahead with the missions process!
For several months, I anticipated a positive report. The wait was difficult at times. Some three months later, I received an invitation letter from AGWM to attend the preliminary medical review and regional director interview. God’s plan was unfolding.
