In the summer of 2005, God began to stir my heart deeply. Every time I prayed, God would grip me for the people of Africa. The burden for the nations of Africa would come upon me thick and heavy. Often I would find an intense desire to preach on African soil welling up inside of me. I knew it was time to return to Africa.
After several weeks of prayer, God gave me the opportunity to talk with the Assemblies of God leadership in Africa. Both Greg Beggs and Mike McClaflin agreed that God’s next step was for me to return. They asked me to approach Lindell Warren, the Oklahoma Missions Director for his approval.
A few days later during the annual School of Missions commissioning service, I walked into the back of the building to celebrate God’s call on the new missionary candidates. I couldn’t find a seat as I had arrived only a few minutes before the service was supposed to start. Recognizing a pastor I knew I headed his way.
A seat was available next to him. As I sat down, I suddenly noticed that Lindell Warren was sitting in the next seat over. Before I could even greet him, he looked at me and said “we need to talk”. He fully agreed that it was time for me to pursue full missions appointment. We set a date to meet with the Oklahoma missions board.
The next month, I traveled to Oklahoma City to meet with the missions board. God gave me wonderful favor as I shared my heart with the pastors, missionaries, and district officials sitting around the table. The Lord’s presence filled the room as we talked about God’s heart for this generation.
The decision was unanimous—the Oklahoma District would recommend me to Assemblies of God World Missions for full missions approval!
